Mrs. Avor Nell McDaniel Bryan Abbott, age 83, of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at UT Medical Center Hospital in Tyler, Texas.
She was born November 20, 1941, in San Augustine County to parents Ethel (Evans) and James McDaniel. Mrs. Abbott was a lifelong area resident and member of Harvey Creek Baptist Church. She was a nurse's aide and worked several years at local nursing homes and also had worked for the U.S. Forest Service senior program.
Her survivors include her daughter, Carla Rena Mangrum and husband James of Broaddus; sister, Margie Ann Morton of Broaddus; brother, Marty McDaniel of Broaddus; step-brother, Robert Johnson of San Augustine; step-sister, Kandi McWhorter of Beaumont; grandchildren, Brandon Mangrum of Huntington, Dustin Mangrum of Broaddus, Danielle Sanders of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Amanda Cravy of Nacogdoches; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and James McDaniel; her husbands, Thomas Roosevelt "Red" Bryan and Mack Ellis Abbott; son, Thomas Eugene Bryan; and a brother, James McDaniel Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church near Broaddus with Bro. Maynard Phillips officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Brandon Mangrum, Allen Sanders, Joshua Cravy, Michael Morton, Robert Johnson, and Dallas Sanders.
