Berl Edward Smith

Mr. Berl Edward Smith, age 92, of San Augustine County passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Stone Creek Nursing Home.

He was born October 28, 1931, in San Augustine County to parents Ruth (Balch) and Clarence Lee Smith and had been a longtime area resident. He was a farmer/rancher. Berl was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church. He loved his family.

His survivors include his wife, Rose Ann Husband Smith of San Augustine; daughter, Leann Smith-Landers of Hallsville; son-in-law, Mark Landers of Hallsville; granddaughter, Brenna Harvey of San Augustine; grandson-in-law, Brandon Cantrell of San Augustine; grandson, Colton Harvey of San Augustine; granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Harvey of San Augustine; and great-grandchildren, Easton, Berkleigh, Weston, Hayslee, and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Ruth Smith; twin brother, Earl Smith, and other siblings, Bobby Glenn Smith, Helen Ruth Barr, and Wayne Lee Smith.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Rev. Preston Fitzgerald and Rev. Mark Landers officiating. Interment will follow at the New Hope Cemetery, located off FM 354.
