Bobbie Joyce (Ponder) Walton

Mrs. Bobbie Joyce (Ponder)  Walton, age 90, a longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, in San Augustine.   She was born to parents, Mattie Lou (Bland) Ponder and Curtis Earl Ponder on August 16, 1933, in San Augustine County, Texas. 

Ms. Bobbie enjoyed her family and friends, and was a loving caretaker doing private nursing for many years. She had also worked in retail for the San Augustine Flower Shop for a number of years, and was a longtime member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church.  

Those who are left to cherish her memory include her son, Joseph Walton, Sr., and Sheron of San Augustine; daughters, Joan Rodgers and Travis of Joaquin, Joy White and Joe of Tenaha and Belinda Wall and Roger of San Augustine; brothers, T.L. Ponder of San Augustine, Phillip Ponder of San Augustine and Marvin Ponder and Sherry of San Augustine; sisters, Vonnie Stover of Jacksonville, Phillis Andrews and Charles of Evadale, Mary Lou Stringer of Frankston, and Rhonda Karen Dickson and David of Troup; 20 grandchildren, along with many numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Mattie Lou Ponder; her beloved husband, Marlin Leon Walton, grandsons, Joseph Walton, Jr., and Seth Earl Evans; brothers, Lamar Ponder, George Ponder, Jack Ponder,  and James Earl Ponder. 

Pallbearers will include, Cody Walton, Josh Lout, Kirk Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Caleb Wall,  and Haven Wall; Honorary pallbearers will include Ryan Arwine and Jeremy Overby. 

Funeral Services will be at held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in San Augustine County.  Officiating will be Bro. Frank Holrath and Bro. Keith Rose.  Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery adjacent to the church. 

Visitation will be from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evening, July 1, 2024, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
