Bobby Olen Wadsworth entered into rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in San Augustine, Texas. He was born in Beaumont, Texas, March 7, 1943, to Elbert Jerrell Wadsworth and Wilma Mauline (Evett) Wadsworth.
Bobby worked in Houston for various corporations after graduating from the University of Houston in 1968. At the age of fifty five, he moved back to San Augustine, in 1998, and attended SFA; achieving five teaching certifications and a Masters Degree. He taught High School in Nacogdoches ISD one year and at Broaddus ISD for twenty years. He retired at the age of seventy five. He also drove a school bus the majority of those years. He was the pastor of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church for three years and Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church for seven years. He was the guest minister for several churches and preached numerous revivals.
He enjoyed sketching, painting, sculpting, welding, carpentry, collecting, reading, and writing, singing, and telling stories. He loved music in all genres. He loved his family and lived life to the fullest. His encouraging words and support for everyone he knew will be treasured and missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pyle Wadsworth of San Augustine, Texas; son, Jason Wadsworth and wife Amy of Spring, Texas; daughter, Robin Chavez and husband John of Spring, Texas; step-son, Kevin Parrott and wife Tonya of Farmerville, Texas; step-daughter, Sarah and husband Cable Oliver of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; and step-son, Brian Parrott and wife Valerie of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor, Rex, Zoe, Sophie, Kason, Braedyn, Ava, Baylee, Owen, Sam, Eli, Mason and Maddy and great-granddaughter, Braelyn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine.
