Our mother, Carolyn Amelia (Gibson Dorsey) Ware Gross, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at Nacogdoches Medical Center after a long and full life. She was born July 15, 1937, and was 85-years-old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maude and George Hebel Gibson; her adopted grandparents, Jim and Callie Dorsey; husband, LeRoy Gross; a daughter, Deborah Sue (Ware) Jaeskhe; granddaughter, Misi Lynn Ware; uncles, Joseph Dorsey and E.G. "Top" Dorsey; and her half-brother, Riley Gibson.
She enjoyed taking care of her family, raising them in Macune Baptist Church and playing the piano at Macune Church. She worked taking care of the elderly. She had a passion about animals and especially loved dogs.
She was of the Baptist faith and knew she had heavenly home awaiting her.
She left behind a son, Dorsey Ray Ware and his wife, Donna (Bland) Ware of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Rickie Ann (Ware) Lozano of Joshua Tree, California; a granddaughter, Josie Lachelle (Ware) Johnson and husband Harold Johnson of Nacogdoches; grandson, Michael Lee Lozano; great-granddaughter, Madisan Raymes Johnson of Nacogdoches; and a great-grandson, Paul Ryan Johnson and wife Riley (Saegert) Johnson of Bastrop, Texas.
We want to express our thanks to Dr. Satir and the second floor staff at Medical Center for their caring concerns as well as the Heart to Heart Hospice staff.
To honor my mother's wishes, there will be no funeral service. She will be cremated and a private memorial at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Sabine County will be held at a later date. I invite you to privately celebrate Carolyn's memory in your own way. I know that she will be with us all in spirit.
