Charles "Chuck" Whitton

Mr. Charles Earl "Chuck" Whitton of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas, at the age of 64.

A native of San Augustine County, he was born May 23, 1959, to parents A.E. "Jake" and Marguarite "Peggy" Elliott Whitton. Chuck worked as a land surveyor and was presently serving as county surveyor for San Augustine County. 

Mr. Whitton had a great love for outdoors and hunting. He was involved with land management for deer. A proud NRA member, he was an expert marksman as well.

His survivors include his parents, A.E. "Jake" and Peggy Whitton; a nephew, Scott Whitton; a niece, Catherine Whitton; and a sister, Rebecca Whitton.

He was preceded in death by an uncle Billy James Whitton; grandmothers, Sallie Whitton and Louise Elliott; and grandfathers, Abbie King Whitton and William Elliott.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street.

A graveside service is planned for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden, located on State Highway 147 North in San Augustine, Texas.

Pallbearers: Lafher Coulter, Larry Jackson, Scott Noble, Stephen Hayes, Keith Jasper, and William Richards.
