Cheryl Ann Owens, age 70 passed away Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, at St Luke Memorial Hospital, San Augustine, Texas. She was the oldest girl in a home family of 5 children. Her Father, Miles Handy, Mother, Gladys (Tanner) LaFedge, Stepfather, Nalton LaFedge, Brothers, Ray Neal Garrett, Richard Earl Simpson, Leola (LaFedge) Jones, preceded her in death.
Ann was born February 7, 1956, in San Augustine and a proud graduate of SAHS Class of 1974. In HS she was on the Annual Staff. Early Employment: San Augustine Holiday Inn, Head Start, Temple-Inland. She had a knack for cooking and those skills excelled into the Mosby & Tanner family hall of fame for that dedicate Chicken Dressing. That inheritance skill she inherited from Mama.
Ann was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ and served with faithful integrity as Sunday school teacher for the youth for many years.
She loved people, going places and she lived life to the fullest. Simple pleasures were just plain wonderful . Loved chatting on phone, birthday and watermelon parties.
She had sweet knack of "Care and Hug Your Heart". Ann's Love In Spirit was the best. She cared and she shared and all the Sunset Community knew it.
Ann was an overcomer. We will always be grateful to Shriner's Hospital, Shreveport, La., Stone Creek Nursing and Rehab facility *Friends*, St. Luke Memorial Health for Excellence in Care.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted Irreplaceable and Loving husband, Robert Lee Owens, Her Special daughters, Stephanie( Chad) Jenkins and Teresa N. Simpson, both of San Augustine, Tx. Gigi grandbaby Boy, Michael Johnson Jr., San Augustine, Tx.
Twin Sisters, Elouise Ludd, Shreveport, La., Louise Polk, San Augustine, Special Life Cousin, Gloria Jean Wharton of Missouri City, Tx, Little Sister Kathy LaFedge White of San Augustine, Tx. A host of wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins , relatives, and friends.
A graveside service is planned for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Greer Cemetery, located on FM 711 north of San Augustine.
