Mr. Clyde T. Epps, age 85, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Epps was born September 8, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to parents Mary Agnes (Barber) and Clyde Terrell Epps and had resided in San Augustine County for the past several years. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Family time was very special for Clyde as he enjoyed the many gatherings and outings with his loved ones. He also found many hours of happiness another favorite pastime, fishing.
Clyde had worked as a mechanical technician in the offshore industry as well as a boiler operator several years ago in downtown Houston buildings. Carpentry and renovation work, etc., had been a great passion over the years in his life.
His survivors include his wife of almost 69 years, Brenda Epps of San Augustine; his son, Ronnie Epps and his wife Laurie of Webster City, Iowa; daughter, Denise Mullis of San Augustine; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary A. Epps; and three sisters, Mary Catherine Rawlinson, Thelma Morris Berry, and Anna Lee Felts.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jerry DuBose and Bro. Kevin Greathouse officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery, located off FM 711 in Shelby County.
Pallbearers: Jason Counts, Sid Williams, Tom Thornton, Cody Walton, Cory Thornton, Dexter Watts, and Larry Hakenewerth. Honorary pallbearers: Paul Counts and Les Counts.
