Collie Clary Obituary

Collie Jones Clary was born on May 31, 1944, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Havana Brunson and raised by her loving great aunt and uncle, Sadie and Dee Brosette.

On January 22, 2025, Collie entered into her eternal home with Jesus.

In 1961, Collie married the love of her life, George Clary. And within three years they welcomed two daughters, Tresha and Twyla. After eight more years of hope and prayer, heath was born. Collie had an abundant love for her family and that love spilled over into many young lives.

Together Collie and George mentored, served and ministered to the youth at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Houston and Eastview Baptist Church in Kilgore sharing Jesus and the gospel. As time went on they volunteered on many mission trips, several times making their way to Alaska and working at Victory Children's Camp. Collie had a love for teens and her home was often a "hang out" for many. Along the way their home became a haven for several who became part of the family. The door was always open for anyone needing a place to stay and she always had a pot of hot chocolate ready for a house full. Collie and George shared the love of Jesus through their words and actions leading many young people to salvation.

She enjoyed working at Kilgore High School as the attendance clerk and had a special bond with many of the students. Collie owned a tax business for many years and was a financial consultant helping many families throughout the years.

George retired and built a vacation home in Lead Hill, Arkansas. He eventually talked mom into semi-retiring and they moved to Lead Hill full time with the agreement that she could come back to Texas at any time to see her kids and grandkids.

Shortly after their move, Collie and George began to travel. She was always ready for an adventure with a book in one hand a glass of ice in the other. Their travels took them all over the United States and Grandy and Bops enjoyed taking their grandchildren on many of their trips. After George passed away, she continued to travel, going to New York with her daughters and oldest granddaughter, taking a road trip with her youngest grandson to New Jersey, and a road trip to Maine with her daughter, granddaughter, and six-week-old great-granddaughter. These were adventures full of memories that we will never forget.

Collie was blessed with many dear friends that she loved and enjoyed throughout her life. She was a loyal friend, shared such a lot of good times and laughs and made a lot of wonderful memories with them.

Although Collie struggled many years with Alzheimer's, God was faithful to bring so many into her life that loved her. We are so grateful for Carriage Inn in Huntsville, Texas, and Colonial Pines in San Augustine, Texas, for the love and care they provided Collie. We would like to especially thank those individuals who helped her through this very difficult time. You were all a Godsend. We will be forever grateful.

Mrs. Clary was preceded in death by her husband, Gorge, her mom, Havana Brunson; step-father, Homer Brunson; great-aunt, Sadie Brosette and great-uncle, Dee Brossette; grandchild, Baby B; grandson, R.J. Sagmiller; sister-in-law, Sue Bonds; and niece, Carolyn Naska.
