Dexter B. Richards

Mr. Dexter B. Richards was born Tuesday, December 22, 1970, to Bernard Jewel Richards and Jessie May Richards. He departed from this life on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Dexter attended school in San Augustine where he was also a member of Lane Town Baptist Church. he met and fell in love with Latanya Jones on Dec. 3, 1997, at Brookshire Brothers. They were joined tother as husband and wife on February 17, 2017. To this union no children were born. He has a son and four stepchildren.

He lived a disclipined life serving in the U.S. Air Force, being an Eagle Scout, driving a school bus for Center ISD, worked for the highway department (TxDOT), and driving a truck delivering concrete.

Dexter was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Jewel Richards; mother, Jessie May Richards; and a brother, Douglas Richards.

Those left to cherish his memories: wife, Latanya Jones Richards; son and daughter-in-law, Jose and Bernice Pangelinan; grandchildren, Ella, Kaikoa, and Tano; four stepchildren, Lakeetra (Piggy), Ashley (Ash), Xzavius Roberts (X-Man), and Za'Rayian (Baby Girl); grandbabies, Azariah (Biscuit), Tadre Jr. (T Bone), Lasyiah (Nae); Rhaikehrin (Trae), Cedriana (CeCe), J'Kyia (Kiaya), Raelyn (Toot), Ja'Mari (Boss Man), Jermiah (Bae), and Naomi; brother, Adrian Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Victor Sears; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, with Bro. Orvin Garrett officiating. Committal services with veteran honors will follow at Greer Cemetery, located on FM 711 North.
