Doyline Bennefield

Mrs. Rosie Doyline Bennefield of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Stone Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in San Augustine at the age of 95 years, 2 months, 10 days.

Mrs. Bennefield was born April 10, 1931, in San Augustine County to R.D. and Era Wall Steptoe. Doyline was a member of First Baptist Church, Broaddus, where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family.

Doyline and David Bennefield were married March 18, 1950, enjoying family life until his passing in November 2010.

Doyline graduated from Nacogdoches Business College in 1950. After working for several years, she had the opportunity to purchase the Retail Merchant Credit Bureau. This was her last official job for the public.

When she sold the Credit Bureau, she came home and enjoyed her family. She loved her boys, but when the grandchildren came along her life was blessed, until the great-grandchildren, that is when she felt truly blessed.

Cooking was a passion she enjoyed, especially baking, while sharing her cakes, cookies, etc., with many people. She loved to cook for church functions, which was one of her ways that she served the Lord. if you arrived at her house at mealtime, everyone was always welcome to sit and eat.

She is survived by her sons, Barry Bennefield and his wife, Janie, of San Augustine, and Ronald "Toodle" Bennefield of San Augustine; grandchildren, Toni Sellers and husband Greg of Keithville, Louisiana, Wesley Bennefield and wife Brandy of San Augustine, Malcolm Bennefield of San Augustine, and Pam Adkins of San Augustine; great-grandchildren, Barrett Bennefield, Macy Bennefield, Callie Adkins, Peyton Adkins, Lanie Bennefield, Mason Bennefield, Jacy Daugherty, and Kacy Bobbitt; sisters, Margaret Chambless of San Augustine and Linda Runnels and husband Jimmy of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Steptoe of San Augustine and lily Fay Bennefield of Kirbyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.D. and Era Steptoe; her husband, David Bennefield; brothers, Tommy Joe Steptoe and wife Nina, Manuel Ray Steptoe and wife Marlene, and Deolan Steptoe; daughter-in-law, Michelle Bennefield; and a grandson, Dakoda Bennefield.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Dr. Wayne Barth and Bro. Don Lofton officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Sowell Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Wesley Bennefield, Barrett Bennefield, Malcolm Bennefield, Mason Benefield, Alton Steptoe, and Jimmy Runnels. Honorary pallbearer: Greg Sellers.
