Eddie Lowry Lockey II

Mr. Eddie Lowry Lockey II, age 57, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Shelbyville, Texas.

"Eddie II" was born July 26, 1968, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas, to parents Eddie and Cornelia (Sparks) Lockey. 

Eddie II had a life long love of the outdoors and wildlife.  He loved hunting deer, fishing, and trapping.  He knew all the best places to fish and hunt, knowledge he gained as a young boy from his dad and Pawpaw.  In his youth, “II” was active in sports: football, baseball, and tennis.  He was part of an award-winning relay track team his freshman year at Troup High School.  Eddie II loved animals, particularly coon dogs.  When he and his mom lost their sweet “Sophie” and “Lou Lou” he rescued a six-month-old dog “Goldie”.  Then, later brought home “Little Tex”.  Goldie and Little Tex will miss him dearly.

Eddie II was a proud Christian and loved Jesus.  He read his Bible day and night, memorizing many of his favorite scriptures. He taped his favorite scriptures on his bedroom wall and bathroom mirror.  He never missed an opportunity to tell others about his faith. Lastly, he loved people and never met a stranger. He never forgot his friends old and new.  He will live forever in our hearts and cherished memories

His survivors include his mother, Cornelia Sparks Lockey of San Augustine, Texas; his sister, Lisa Lockey Gates and husband Steve of Troup, Texas; an aunt, Judy Sparks of Hemphill, Texas; step-brother, Michael Denby of Conroe, Texas; cousins, Jennifer Sparks Morgan of Diboll, Texas, Alan Youngs of Denver, Colorado, Lance Youngs of Troup, Texas, and Billy Wayne Slaughter of Tyler, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Lockey; a sister, Leslie Lockey; grandparents, Beeman and Gertha Sparks and Savannah Lockey Carnes; uncle, John Richard Sparks; and a paternal aunt, Mary Anne Lockey-Coney. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas, with Bro. Stevie Oaks and Bro. Tim Turner officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery. 

Pallbearers: Kolby Bryant, John Baxter Metcalf, Steve Gates, Christian Sparks, Michael Denby, and Mike Foster.
