Elvin Wondale Harvey

Mr. Elvin Wondale Harvey of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at his residence at the age of 95 years, 6 months, 13 days.

Born April 3, 1927, in San Augustine County, he was the son of the late Hester Coleman Harvey and Elvin Elias Harvey and a lifelong area resident. He was a farmer/rancher and also owned Harvey's Lakeview Cabins on Lake Sam Rayburn. Mr. Harvey was a member of the Broaddus Independent School District board of trustees for a number of years and had also served as a board member with the Texas Farm Bureau and the USDA Farm Service Agency local offices. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

His survivors include his daughters, Pam Sprague of Zavalla, Texas, and Gwen Edwards and husband Troy of Henderson, Texas; a son, Russell Harvey and wife Toni of Broaddus, Texas; grandchildren, Sharla Oliver and Ricky of Zavalla, Texas, Kara Andrepont and David of Zavalla, Texas, Troy Dale Edwards and Michelle of Lufkin, Texas, Cody Edwards and Katy of Henderson, Texas, Clarissa Hoke and Aaron of Huntington, Texas, Tasha Cheney and Mark of Pearland, Texas, Josh Nichols of Silsbee, Texas, and Russell Harvey Jr. of Broaddus, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Harvey, on March 21, 2022; his parents, Hester and Elvin Elias Harvey; son-in-law, Roland Sprague; and sisters, Juanice Beard and Christelle Wall.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Wiggins and Mike Beard officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at the Harvey Cemetery in Broaddus, Texas.

The family wishes to express special appreciation to staff members of Hospice in the Pines of Lufkin, Texas, for their compassionate care.  

A very special thank you to daughter-in-law Toni Harvey.  Her love and care for him and our family is unsurpassed. She ensured that his last days were spent at home, surrounded by the memories, things and people he loved. There are no words to express how grateful we are for her.
