Mrs. Gladys Jewel Smith Galloway, age 95, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at Colonial Pines Care Center.
She was born September 11, 1929, in San Augustine to parents Pink and Susie (Cooper) Smith and had been a longtime area resident. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother as the matriarch of their family. Mrs. Galloway was a member of the Full Gospel Church and was a faithful pastor's wife always standing with her husband, the late Rev. James Galloway, who was the founding pastor of Bronson Revival Center.
Her survivors include her daughter, Shirley Blue of San Augustine; a son-in-law, Pat Jacks of Pineland; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Smith; grandchildren, Sherry and Jeff Harding, Johnnie and Linda Hodge, John and Jeannie Blue, Patrick Jacks, Sabrina and Raymond Worthy, and James and Kelly Lakey; 15 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pink and Susie Smith; her husband, Rev. James Galloway; daughters, Nelda Faye Galloway, Peggy Lakey, and Sharon Jacks; sisters, Hazel Rash and Atrail Dohmann; brothers, Bobby Joe Smith, Roy Smith, J.W. Smith, and Donald Smith; sons-in-law, James Blue and Robert Lakey; and a great-grandson, Dakota Jacks.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Danny Bentsen and Sis. Sherry Harding officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine.
Pallbearers: John Blue, Patrick Jacks, Johnnie Hodge, James Lakey, Jeff Harding and Raymond Worthy.
Honorary pallbearers: Johnnie Hodge Jr., Brandon Retherford, Alex Blue, Kyle Blue, J.B. Mikeman, Hunter Harding, Tanner Worthy, Cane Whitton, Kyle Whitton, and Tray Whitton.
