Gus Lynn Moore

Mr. Gus Lynn Moore of Chireno, Texas, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at his residence at the age of 82 years, 4 months, 26 days.

Mr. Moore was born May 1, 1942, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to parents Lee Monroe Moore and Emma Lee (Shaw) Moore and had been a lifelong area resident. He worked many years as a propane delivery driver in East Texas, retiring from Automatic Gas Company in Nacogdoches with 36 years of service. He enjoyed playing dominoes. Mr. Moore also had a great passion for outdoors, especially deer hunting, camping, and fishing, along with gardening.

His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Moore of Chireno, Texas; sons, Raymond Moore and wife Opal of Chireno, Texas, and Gus Moore Jr. and wife Amanda of Chireno, Texas; daughters, Mary West and husband Ed of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Sheila Spencer and husband Ronnie of Chireno, Texas; a sister, Barbara Thacker of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Todd, Tasha Smith, Kyle Moore, Keith Smitt, Erica Smitt, Jolene Krueger, Brittney Mayhugh, Kenley Moore, Jaxton Moore, Samantha Williams, Emma Spencer, and Jason Spencer; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Emma Moore; a granddaughter, Randa Moore; brothers, Charlie Lee Moore and Franklin Moore; and sisters, Bessie Mae Shaw, Lessie Sowell, Verna Sargent, Louise Fussell, and Bobbie Rushing.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Dickerson officiating. Commital service and interment will follow at the Lower Chireno Cemetery in Chireno.

Pallbearers: Raymond Moore, Gus Moore Jr., Ed West, Ronnie Spencer, James Lee Rushing, Kyle Moore, Michael Todd, Keith Smitt, and Jason Spencer.
