Jerry Lee Welsh, 71, of San Augustine, Texas, was born on January 5, 1955, in Lena, Mississippi. He set sail on his final voyage January 30, 2026.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at McMahan Chapel Church, located off State Hwy. 21 on Spur 35, with Bro. Don Brazile officiating.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Welsh, of 34 years; his daughter, Trintee Frame, and her husband Gus; his stepson, James “Buddy” Griggs, and his wife Jenna; his stepdaughter, Chastity Price, and her husband Eric; and his 2 brothers, Stacy Scott and wife Christy, and Rocky Welsh and wife Billie. 9 beautiful grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and so many loved ones in his extended families.
He was preceded in death by his father, James "Pinetop" Welsh; his mother, Gwen Tindall; and his brother, Beau Welsh.
A proud United States Marine, he served his country with honor, discipline, and unwavering dedication—values that guided him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jerry spent much of his life on the water as a boat captain, where he found freedom, purpose, and peace. The sea was more than a livelihood to him; it was where he felt most at home. Known for his steady hand, strong work ethic, and calm leadership, He earned the respect of all who sailed with him.
Jerry will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and devotion to his family, his country, and the open water.
His watch has ended, but his legacy will continue to sail on.
