John William "Boss" Watkins

John William "Boss" Watkins, age 73, of San Augustine, passed from this life on Friday, February 6, 2025, in San Augustine County, Texas.  He was born October 25, 1951, to parents, Jake and Stella Watkins in Nacogoches County, Texas.  

John retired from the Houston Lighting and Power Company after 27 years and then retiring back to San Augustine where he owned and operated Watkins Feed Store for 10 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hemphill. 

Those who are left to cherish his memory include his wife, Gail Watkins of San Augustine; daughters, Kathryn Pay and husband, Ryan of San Augustine and Angie Meador of Spring; grandchildren, Jonathan Mills and wife Angela, Aaron Blanshan and wife Lacy, Kirsten Johns and husband Mitchell, Wayde Blanshan, Will Pay and wife Kylee, and Jake Pay, and 7 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Lynn Fisk, his parents, Jake and Stella Watkins, sisters, Barbara Ann Gunn and Shirley Faye Phillips.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Rick Harrison officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday just prior to the funeral service. 

Interment will follow in the McMahan Chapel in the Sabine County, Texas.
