Mr. Johnny Wayne Mayhugh Sr., age 61, of Chireno, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Johnny Wayne Mayhugh Sr. was born in Merkel, Texas, to Shirley Hubacek and Donald Wanye Mayhugh. He was the second oldest of five children.
Growing up he cut his entrepreneurial teeth at his family junk and salvage yard. He often joked that he had "junking in his veins." He has spent many hours over this past summer passing on his knowledge of junking and making money with his grandson Jacob. His granddaughter Addison told him she wanted to make money as well so he told her that every time she smiles he would pay her a dollar! (She's still waiting on those dollars!)
He married the love of his life Cathrine in January of 1980 and spent the last 42 years living out the last-minute adventures of traveling from state to state and casino to casino. Johnny was passionate about his family and was always there to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife, Cathrine; son, John Jr. and wife Nikki Mayhugh; daughter, Stephanie and husband Rob Czekner; grandchildren, Jacob and Garrett Mayhugh and Addison Czekner, all of Chireno; mother, Shirley and stepfather Frankie Hubacek of Hutchins; and sisters, Tammy Dawber and John Chaffins of Bonham, Sherry Mayhugh of Hutchins, and Becky and Joe Nahas of Richmond. Also, nephews and nieces, TJ and Brittney Mayhugh, Jason and Ruby Dawber, Alicia and Reece Mathews, Sarah Nahas and Nyla Nahas; and many more family and friends.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Donald Mayhugh; brother, Timothy Mayhugh; and brother-in-law Tim Dawber.
