Johnny R. Grimes Sr.

Mr. Johnny R. Grimes Sr., 77, of San Augustine County went home to glory on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Grimes; two sons, Markus Grimes and wife Sara of Nacogdoches and Johnny Grimes Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Julie Leming and husband Don Don of Scottsville, Texas, and Emily Grimes of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; and seven wonderful grandchildren.

Johnny was born October 24, 1946, in Lufkin to parents John Ellis and Annie Ruth (Thomas) Grimes. He worked for the Old T&P and Missouri Pacific Railroad that later became Union Pacific.

He was a proud Mason and past master of Redland Masonic Lodge #3 and an endowed member in good standing of the Grand Lodge of Texas.

Johnny was the kind of man who could repair any piece of equipment with spit and baling wire. He loved the Lord and devoted himself to his wife. He will be sorely missed.

Private arrangements are being handled by Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.
