Joy Nell Brown

Joy Nell Brown, 64, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Joy Nell was born January 15, 1959, in Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas, to parents Dora Lee (Irwin) and Lee Lawrence Fussell. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had been a longtime resident of the Sabine County area. Joy Nell was a care giver and worked several years as a nursing assistant at Sabine County Hospital as well as area nursing homes. She was a member of Turning Point Tabernacle in Pineland, Texas.

Her survivors include her children, Randy Weaver and wife Amanda of Timpson, Texas, Anthony Weaver and wife Balela of Chester, Texas, Kristy Rankin and husband Joe of Saginaw, Michigan, Erica Welch and husband George of Broaddus, Texas, Chadwick Benton of Bronson, Texas, and Joseph Benton; sisters, Joyce Ann Fussell of Pineland, Texas, Linda Joyce Fussell of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Rosie Bailey of Chireno, Texas; grandsons, Trey Weaver, Austin Weaver, Ty Weaver, Dakota Weaver, Brandon Rankin, and Seth Welch; granddaughters, Trysten Rankin, Hayden Rankin, and Haley Welch; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Lawrence Fussell; mother, Dora Lee Benton; brothers, Aubrey Fussell, Jimmy Lee Fussell, Bill Fussell, and James Fussell; and sisters, Linda Faye Fussell, Hazel Fussell, Mary Fussell, and Rose Bozeman.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Graveside services are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at Chapel Hill Cemetery, located on Hwy. 21 East.

Pallbearers: Trey Weaver, Austin Weaver, Ty Weaver, Dakota Weaver, Seth Welch, and Brandon Rankin.
