Mrs. Judith “Judy” Carolyn Soucie (née Snider), age 79, of San Augustine, Texas, beloved mother and grandmother, was welcomed peacefully to the Lord’s side on March 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service for Judith Carolyn Soucie will be held graveside at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 1289 SH 147 N San Augustine, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026. *Please park at the church.*
Judy was one of two children born to Daisy Goings Snider and Euell Elton “Buck” Snider in Shelby, Texas, on May 21, 1946.
In 1979, Judy received her teacher’s certification and was a devoted educator throughout her career. She served as the Principal of Brookeland High School in Brookeland, Texas, before retiring in 2009.
She married Arnold Patrick Soucie in 1996, and his family became her own. After their retirement, they spent 3-4 months a year at their cabin on the lake, enjoying both the company of the Soucie family and the natural beauty of Maine.
Throughout her life, however, Judy’s heart remained in Texas. Her home in San Augustine, Texas, was always warm and welcoming. A strong personality, Judy made friends wherever she went. It was not uncommon for the Soucie household to receive multiple visits a day from close friends and family members who wished to enjoy her company. She also frequently volunteered with the Church and hosted gatherings at her home.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Anderson of Austin, Texas; a son, Wayne Grissom, and his wife, Alyssa of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Alexandra Anderson, Andrew Soucie, Ashton Grissom, and Abbie Grissom; sister-in-law, Ruth Snider of Beaumont, Texas; and many other beloved extended family members and lifelong friends.
Judy, to her profound sadness, was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Soucie; son, John Grissom; stepson, Tony Soucie; grandson, Alexander Soucie; brother, Kenneth Snider; and nephew, Kenny Snider.
Her spirit, defined by warmth, hospitality, and dedication to family, will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
