Kathryn (Key) Barclay

Kathryn Key Barclay, age 83, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

She was born February 10, 1938, in Geneva, Texas, to parents Freddie Hazel (Bland) and King David Key. She grew up in the area and had deep family roots in San Augustine and Sabine Counties and had lived in Nacogdoches for the past several years. Mrs. Barclay enjoyed outdoor work and took great pride in caring for her lawn.

Mrs. Barclay had worked in retail sales for most of her life. For a number of years, she proudly operated Kathryn’s Dress Shop in Nacogdoches.

Her survivors include her daughters, Suzette Watkins of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sandy Garrard of Maryville, Tennessee; a son, James “Jim” Garrard of Beaumont, Texas; a sister, Doris Key Davidson of Madisonville, Texas; and her grandchildren, Wyatt Garrard, Devan Cohen, and Max Cohen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Barclay, in 2012; her parents, Hazel and Leeman Neel; father, King David Key; and her brother, Joe Key.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tim Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery, located on Hwy. 147 North in San Augustine.
