Kendall Joseph DiMaggio Obituary

Joe DiMaggio, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 85 following a brief battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Morgan City, Louisiana and graduated from University of Louisiana Monroe. He was a career pharmacist and owner of Economy Professional Pharmacy in San Augustine for more than 43 years. As a longtime member of First Methodist Church and its church choir, Redland Masonic Lodge No. 3 and Lions Club, he genuinely enjoyed serving his community.

A hardworking man of deep faith, Joe was warm, generous, and energetic. He was joyful when singing, playing the organ or piano, riding his lawnmower, and most of all, spending time with his family. Joe’s South Louisiana roots ran deep. He loved a crawfish boil, an ice-cold beer, and a good joke.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Millie, his children Anne Johnston (and husband Clayton) of Kansas City, Missouri, Paige Penchas of Houston, David DiMaggio of San Augustine, and Margaret Chamblee (and husband Geoffrey) of Houston, eight grandchildren, his brothers Luke, Mark, and sister Rilla.

Pallbearers are his grandchildren: Emma Katherine DiMaggio of Long Beach, California, Charlotte Elizabeth DiMaggio of Arcata, California, Edward Isles Davis Chamblee of Austin, Margaret Anne Johnston of Washington D.C., Ellen Paige DiMaggio Chamblee of Houston, Joseph Blake Johnston of Evergreen, Colorado, Henry Joseph Wendorf Chamblee of Austin, and Shai Gabrielle Penchas of Houston.

The family wishes to thank Doctors John Oglesbee, Devinder Bhatia, Devesh Pandya, Pranav Loyalka, and the wonderful staff at Stonecreek Rehabilitation for their kindness and care.

We will forever remember his beautiful soul and the love he radiated. He will be deeply missed.
