LaCresia Denise Bennefield

LaCresia Denise Bennefield, age 54, of San Augustine County, Texas, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas.

She was born February 14, 1969, in San Augustine, Texas, to parents James Vernon and Linda Faye (Sowell) Bennefield. She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church.

LaCresia loved helping and taking care of people, it was literally her passion. One of the greatest ways she did this was her 19 years of faithful service at Hillcrest Assisted Living Center, formerly known as El Camino House, in San Augustine. She also enjoyed traveling, especially cruises.  

Her survivors include her father, Vernon Bennefield of the White Rock community; sons, Kenny Sherman and husband, Stephen, of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Chris Wheeler and wife, April, of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Paige Sherman and Conner Smith; a sister, Karla Blackwell; her fiancé, Terry Hudgens; and number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Faye Bennefield; and a sister, Belinda Ann Bennefield.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at White Rock Baptist Church, 3280 FM 2785 in San Augustine County, with Pastor Sheldon Hardy officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.

Pallbearers: John Goulding, Russell Sowell, Roger Sowell, Marcus Hafford, Mike McCauley, and Koen Sykes Jr .
