Margaret Anne (Miller) Aiken

Margaret Anne Miller Aiken, age 72, of San Augustine, passed from this life on Saturday, October 8, 2022, in San Augustine surrounded by friends and family. 

 Anne was born to parents, Marge Lewis Miller and Nolen Miller on February 27, 1950, in San Augustine, Texas.  She graduated from San Augustine High School Class of 1968.  She attended Stephen F. Austin State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1973.  She was employed with the Texas Department of Human Services as a Social Worker retiring in 2003 after 25 years. She was a member of the San Augustine Garden Club and the Daughters of Republic of Texas, Ducks Unlimited, Turkey and Elk Federations, and the Bass Anglers Sportsmen Society.  In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with her friends, loved her longhorn cattle, and her dogs, also enjoyed watching old western classics, and her favorite TV show Gunsmoke. 

She is survived by her husband, Gary Aiken; step-son, Chris Aiken; brother, Lewis Nolen Miller and wife Susie; sister-in-law, Barbara Miller; nephews, John David Miller, Jr., and wife Bonnie; Ben Miller and wife Jade; nieces, Sabrina Miller Taylor and husband Bill; Lisa Carol Miller Story and Kevin; great-nieces and great-nephews, Shelby McInturf, Joe and Sarah Blankship, and Sayde, Maggie and Ashley Miller, Daphne Runnels, Rachel Story, Steven and Amber Story, Trentin, Kaylynn and Nolan Story, along with special friends, Celeste Lacy and Byron Burrows. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Marge Miller, and brother, a John David Miller, Sr., a nephew, Lance Cpl. William "Billy" Miller. 

Pallbearers will include Kennon Foster, Morris Boozer, Albert Collins, Steve Sublett, Russ Reader and Drew White; Honorary pallbearers will include Tim Layfield, Byron Burrows and Mike Smith. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in the San Augustine Cowboy Church in San Augustine, located at 539 FM 711.  Officiating will be Bro. Chris Burris.  Interment will be in the Liberty Hill Memorial Garden in San Augustine County.  

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from the hours of 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
