Matthew Freeman Mathews Obituary

Matthew Freeman Mathews, 21, passed away on June 6, 2026.

Born on February 18, 2005, in DeRidder, Louisiana, Matthew was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend whose life touched countless people. Though his time on earth was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Matthew was born to Kayla Parker and William Robert Freeman. He was lovingly raised by his mother alongside Shane Mathews and Kelly Parker, who both played important roles in helping shape the young man he became. He was also blessed with the love and guidance of his grandparents, John and Sharon Mathews, who helped raise him and remained a constant source of support throughout his life.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Kayla Parker; his biological father, William Robert Freeman; his brother, Seth Freeman; his sister, Kallyn Parker; his stepbrother, Chace Felts; his stepsister, Sunny Mathews; Shane and Jenna Mathews; Kelly Parker; John and Sharon Mathews; and many other family members and friends who loved him deeply.

Matthew never met a stranger. He had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a personality that could light up any room. He was often the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a story, or a way to make people laugh. At the same time, he carried himself with respect and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He had a deep love for the outdoors and was happiest hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. Anyone who knew Matthew knew he wasn’t just good at hunting and fishing—he was exceptionally good at it. He also had a natural mechanical ability and could figure out how things worked with a skill that seemed to come naturally to him.

More than anything, Matthew will be remembered for the joy he brought to others. The stories, laughter, adventures, and friendships he leaves behind are a testament to a life that, while far too brief, was lived fully and loved deeply.

The family would like to thank everyone who has shared prayers, stories, photographs, and memories during this difficult time. Every memory shared has been a reminder of the many lives Matthew touched and the love that surrounds him.

Matthew’s family asks that he be remembered not for the way he left this world, but for the way he lived—his laughter, his kindness, his respect for others, his love of the outdoors, and the unforgettable impact he made on those around him.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Matthew.
