Maudene (Davis) Jacobs

Emma Maudene Davis Jacobs, 83, of San Augustine, Texas passed from this life on December 11th, 2024 at home. Maudene was born on December 17th, 1940, to George Malone "Toup" Davis and Maudie Margaret Forse Davis.

Maudene was the apple of her mother's eye, being the sole girl in a family of seven brothers. She spent her childhood in San Augustine before moving to the Beaumont area as a young teen. There, she attended Vidor High School class of 1958 then married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Jay Mansfield. They were together for 20 years and had two daughters.

Maudene attended Angelina Junior College, afterwards she worked as an Activity Director. During this time, she met and married Billy Ray Jacobs with whom she spent 30 happy years until his death in 2019.

Maudene was known for her outstanding culinary and gardening skills. Many contented hours were spent in her herb and vegetable gardens. Sharing with friends and family her freshly canned and preserved fruits and vegetables was her pride and joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 6 brothers, Maxie Malone Davis, Jesse Gene Davis, Leonard Carol Davis, Charlie Harold Davis, George Buford Davis, and Ivy Joe Davis; one grandson, Kenneth Joseph Chambles, as well as two step-sons, Robert Jacobs and Michael Jacobs.

She is survived by daughters Pamela Jo Drummer and husband Vergil of Brookeland, TX , Rebecca Mansfield Loupe and husband Craig of Lake Charles, LA; Granddaughters Cassandra Renee Chambles of Vidor, TX, Annabelle Maudene Loupe and Analee Marie Loupe both of Lake Charles, LA; Brother, Floyd Davis of San Augustine, TX; Step-children Deborah Vyvlecka, Paula Barstad, Julie Horn, Shelly Wallace, David Jacobs; great-grandchildren Cameron Miller, Aaron Smallwood, Landen Smallwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Craig Loupe, Daniel Davis, Landen Smallwood, Rodney Davis, Mack Davis, Jr., James Miller.  Honorary pallbearers will include Cameron Miller and Tommy Davis. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine.  Interment will be in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine County.    Officiating will be Bro. Gordon Simmons.
