It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Michael Donald Schulz, who departed peacefully on April 20, 2026, at Stonecreek Nursing and Rehab in San Augustine, Texas.
Born on July 16, 1950, and raised in California, he often spoke fondly of his younger years spent in Venice and Long Beach, where he enjoyed surfing and the freedom of the ocean. Those memories remained close to his heart and were shared with a smile.
He came to Stonecreek Nursing and Rehab in 2023. Over time, he became family to our staff, fellow residents, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He had a genuine soul and never missed the chance to say, “I love you.” He had a gift for remembering the little things and asking about them, making others feel seen, valued, and cared for. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and often enjoyed cheering on his favorite team in the company of fellow residents and staff. His kindness and warmth left a lasting mark on everyone around him.
Though his journey in life was not without hardship, his story was also one of redemption and faith. In October of 2025, he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized within the walls of the nursing home he called home. It was a beautiful testament to hope, grace, and new beginnings.
He leaves behind a family formed through love, friendship, and shared moments. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by the Stonecreek Nursing and Rehab family and all whose lives he touched.
Rest peacefully, Michael. You will always hold a special place in many hearts.
