Octava “Tate” Burns Belt, age 87, was born January 11, 1937, in San Augustine County, Texas, to Burbon Daniel “Bud” Burns and Ollie Elizabeth (Evans) Burns. She entered into rest at Enchanted Pines Retirement Community in Crockett, Texas, on November 26, 2024.
Tate held many jobs throughout her life, but enjoyed her role as homemaker and "Mammaw" the best. She was of the Baptist faith, last attending Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church before moving to Enchanted Pines.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Miller of Alto, Texas; grandsons, Nicholas Miller and wife Whitney of Crockett, Texas, and Ryan Miller of Tyler, Texas; great-grandsons, Ethan Miller and Jonathan Thomas; brother, Jesse Burns and wife Frances; a sister-in-law, Ruby Burns; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Aaron "Tommy" Belt; brothers, Jay, Dan, Kenneth, Alvin, Charles, Punk "Burbon', and James; and sisters, Marie, Lottie, Lue, and Margaret.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Dickerson Cemetery, located on County Road 4255 off FM 3279 in the Grapevine community of San Augustine County with Pastor Kevin Greathouse officiating.
