Mr. Perry Lee Curry Jr. of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at his residence at the age of 80 years, 9 months, 15 days.
Mr. Curry was born June 26, 1943, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to parents Mettye (Foshee) Curry and Perry Lee Curry Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He later began a long distinguished career with Bell Telephone, which later became a part of AT&T and the Lucent Technology. Perry retired with 33 years of service.
He had a great love of fishing and outdoors. The family enjoyed many trips and spent lots of time in the Broaddus area at Lake Sam Rayburn before completely moving to the lake in 1998. Perry was a dedicated Christian, faithfully serving the Lord. In Broaddus, he became a very dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
His survivors include his wife, Mary Curry (married on June 6, 1987); son, Hunter Curry and wife Whitley of Broaddus, Texas; daughter, Courtney Curry and Rex Thurman of Spring, Texas; sister, Sharon Talbert and husband Larry of Corsicana, Texas; sisters-in-law, Billie Eyster, Elsie McDaniel, and Emma Rice and husband Buddy; a brother-in-law, Floyd Mills and wife Delane; an aunt, Scrap Bratland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Mettye Curry.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 310 FM 83 West in Broaddus, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Don Lofton officiating.
Pallbearers: Charlie Michalek, Ed Harris, Willie Luker, Johnny Streback, Gaylon Bryan, and Gabriel Elizalde. Honorary pallbearers: Billy Joe Williams, Barry Bennefield, Jody Goodwin, and Jim Bell.
