Phyllis (Ponder) Smith

Phyllis Smith, age 52, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, in San Augustine County.

Phyllis was born August 23, 1969, in San Augustine County to parents Frances Marie Alfaro and Phillip Ponder. She was a longtime area resident and worked in health care as a vocation specialist. She was a member of the Faith Alive Church in San Augustine.

Her survivors include her father, Phillip Ponder of San Augustine; her mother, Frances Marie Alfaro of San Augustine; a daughter, Courtney Deon Brooks of San Augustine; son, Steve Smith Jr. of San Augustine; brothers, Clayton Ponder and Bridgette of Broaddus, Norman Ponder and Connie of San Augustine, and Steven White of Robeline, Louisiana, Edrick Ponder of Houston, and Jeffrey Armstrong of San Augustine; sisters, Armanda Johnson and Charles of San Augustine, Frieda Stone and Mike of Elkhart, and Mary Ponder and Hector Moncada of San Augustine;  grandchildren, MaKayla, Alyssa, Jahyda, Cayden, Sierra, Maddison, Amya, Jaydon, and James; great-grandchild, Macen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Ponder; and a brother, Chris White.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel.
