Prentice Ray "P.R." Norwood

Mr. Prentice Ray "P.R." Norwood, age 85, of San Augustine passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his residence in the Norwood community.

He was born September 26, 1939, in San Augustine County to parents R.C. and Adelle (Sowell) Norwood and was a former longtime resident of the Orange area before returning to San Augustine County. P.R. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a tank driver. He retired after working several years as a pipefitter and pipe design engineer. He was a member of Norwood Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Norwood of San Augustine; son, Shon Norwood and wife Cathie of Mont Belvieu; step-daughter, Cindy O'Quinn and husband Robert Pritchett of San Augustine; daughter-in-law, Becky Norwood; sister-in-law, Pat Wallace; grandchildren, Christopher Norwood and Katherine, Darlene Duff and Terry, Thomas Norwood and Stephanie, Brandi Sorter, Telia Sorter and Nathan Vizcarro, Ryan Norwood, Travis Norwood, Dylan Broussard and Ashley, Taylor Mitchell and Heather Poindexter, Cade Burnett and Fancy, Amanda Aguilar and Michael, and Ronald Davis Jr. and Victoria; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Shirlie Norwood; son, Robert Norwood; daughter, Lorena Sorter; brother, Harlon Norwood; step-daughters, Mindy O'Quinn Mitchell and Shannon O'Quinn; and step-son, Terry O'Quinn Jr. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 W. Columbia in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Charles Sharp and Shon Norwood officiating. Interment will follow at the Sowell Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Ryan Norwood, Travis Norwood, Chris Norwood, Thomas Norwood, Dylan Broussard, Cade Burnett, Taylor Mitchell, Ronald Davis Jr. Honorary Pallbearers include Robert Pritchett, Preston Burnett.
