Robert Birdwell Obituary
Mr. Robert Birdwell, age 72, of San Augustine County passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his residence.
He was born June 11, 1952, in Nacogdoches and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1970 graduate of San Augustine High School, Robert was an entrepreneur who loved to play in the dirt. He started his first dozer business in the mid 1970s and moved on to operate his first rock quarry, Double R Rock, with longtime friend Ricky Lout. His latest adventure playing in the dirt was at Attoyac Rock. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Robert loved his family with his whole heart and cherished his granddaughters.
His survivors include his wife, Kelly Birdwell of San Augustine; son, Nico Birdwell and wife Jami of San Augustine; step-son, Jeremy Griffin of Cypress Point; granddaughters, Aniston and Aubrey Birdwell of San Augustine; and his sisters, Brenda Buffington and husband Joseph of Buna and Mary Lou Rhoades and husband Mike of Granbury.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Birdwell; mother, Billye Moomaw Phelps; and grandparents, Oscar and Nona Birdwell.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church, located on FM 83 East in Broaddus, with Pastor Don Lofton and Charles Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden in San Augustine.
