Sherry Lynn (Birdwell) McDaniel

Sherry Lynn (Birdwell) McDaniel, age 67, of Long Branch, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at her residence.

Sherry was born January 19, 1958, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents Tex and Mabel Lois (Dickerson) Birdwell and lived in San Augustine County during her growing up years, graduating from San Augustine High School. She was a twirler for the SAHS marching band. Music was an important part of Sherry's life and she had made recordings in Nashville. 

A great love and passion for Sherry was horse riding. For several years she was a member of the Old Spanish Trail Ride completing many rides to Houston. She was a member of Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, Texas. 

Above all other things, family was deep in Sherry's heart, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Her survivors include her husband, Greg McDaniel of Long Branch; daughters, Beth McCary and husband Cody of Gary, Texas, and Jennifer Hough and husband Jon Erik of Beckville, Texas; grandsons, Trent McCary and wife Tessa of Midland, Texas, Clay McCary of Gary, Texas, Asher Hough of Beckville, Texas, and Brandon McCary of Gary, Texas; great-granddaughter, Lainey McCary of Midland, Texas; a brother, Rusty Birdwell of Bronson, Texas; mother-in-law, Linda McDaniel of Gary, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tex and Mabel Lois Birdwell; a brother, Todd Birdwell; and her father-in-law, Jack McDaniel.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Brian Kelley and Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery, located on Highway 7 near Joaquin, Texas.

Pallbearers: Cody McCary, Clay McCary, Jon Erik Hough, Matt Birdwell, Chris Benitez, and Darrell Pinkston. Honorary pallbearers: Ray Turner, Wayne Cordray, Darrell Withers, Trent McCary, Robert McDaniel, Randy McDaniel, Asher Hough, and Trenton Runnels.
