Thelma Joyce (Odom) Strother

Mrs. Thelma Joyce Strother, 69, of Bronson, Texas, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Strother was born August 26, 1954, in Fred, Texas, to parents Oddis Mae (Spurlock) and Lois Bradford Odom. She had lived in Hardin and Tyler Counties as well as Vidor for several years before moving to Sabine County. She was a member of Bethel Chapel Baptist Church in Pineland.

Joyce was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Her love and care didn't stop at those related by blood as she was always taking care of everyone around her. She was passionate about cooking and providing for her family. Joyce also enjoyed taking care of the camp site when the family was camping.

Her survivors include her children, Norman Smith of Huxley, Elizabeth Hewett of Huxley, Marlesa Gould of Arizona, Denice Jackson and husband Josh of Bronson, Jeffrey Strother and wife Heather of Hamshire, and Justin Warren of Orangefield; her siblings, Shirley Jo Odom of Wildwood, Glen "Hot Shot" Odom of Warren, Barbara Nell Clowers of Warren, Linda McGown of San Augustine, and Jerry Don Odom of Warren; and a host of grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Bo" Strother; parents, Lois Bradford and Oddis Mae Odom; a son, Christopher Strother; and siblings.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Gordon Simmons officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park, located at 2725 N. Main Street in Vidor, Texas.
